Fuel prices jump again in North Cyprus, second hike in a week

Fuel got more expensive again in North Cyprus. If you rely on a scooter, a car, or shared taxis to get to campus, budget for higher costs starting now.

According to a decision published in the Official Gazette, 95 octane unleaded petrol rose from 71.12 TL to 77.12 TL per litre. 98 octane went from 72.12 TL to 78.12 TL. Euro diesel climbed from 70 TL to 76 TL per litre, and kerosene rose from 71.43 TL to 76 TL. The new prices took effect at midnight.

This is the second increase in less than a week. A 3 TL rise on petrol and euro diesel came into force last Thursday, meaning fuel costs have gone up roughly 9 TL per litre in about seven days.

What this means for you

If you run a scooter or car, expect your weekly fuel bill to rise noticeably. Students who rely on shared taxis (dolmuş or private) between dorms and campus may also see fare adjustments, since drivers usually pass fuel costs on within days of a hike like this.
