Annual tuition by university

Sorted by cheapest published rate ascending. Ranges span undergraduate program offerings only at each university — graduate per-course pricing and lab-fee outliers below $500 are excluded so the headline numbers reflect what a typical international undergraduate pays. After-scholarship figures apply the standard international tier each university publishes; merit and full-tuition tiers are documented separately on each university profile.

How to read these numbers

Cheapest rates are after-scholarship

Every TRNC university applies a standard 30–50% scholarship to international students by default. The "cheapest / yr" column on the table reflects that effective rate, not a full-price sticker.

Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy are different

Health-science programs sit at the top of every range — two to four times the price of other undergraduate programs at the same university. If you are researching MBBS or DDS, ignore the cheapest column.

VAT and administrative charges vary

Near East University publishes a VAT-and-admin-inclusive rate; other universities list tuition only and bill VAT/admin separately. Each university profile breaks this out.

Living costs are not included

Tuition is the headline number; budget €4,000–€7,000/year for accommodation, food, transport and books on top. The calculator combines tuition + living cost into a single yearly estimate.

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to study in North Cyprus as an international student?
Annual international tuition at North Cyprus universities ranges from roughly $2,500 at the lower end (after standard-tier scholarships, e.g. associate programs at Cyprus International University) to about $25,000 for unscholarshipped Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy at Near East University. Most undergraduate programs across the six YÖDAK-recognised universities fall between $3,500 and $9,000 per year after the standard 30–50% international scholarship that every university applies by default.
Are tuition fees the same at every university in Northern Cyprus?
No. Each of the six universities sets its own pricing, and within each university Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Veterinary cost two to four times more than other undergraduate programs. Cyprus International University and Girne American University tend to sit at the lower end of the international rate, while Near East University has the most expensive medical and dental programs. Compare the per-university ranges in the table on this page and use the calculator for a program-specific estimate.
Does any university in North Cyprus offer 100% scholarships?
Several universities advertise full-tuition scholarships, but they are conditional and limited. Near East University, Cyprus International University and Girne American University publish 100% scholarship tiers for top-scoring applicants on standardised tests (SAT, YKS, international olympiad medals) or for documented hardship. The default rate every international student receives is a 30–50% standard-tier scholarship; the 100% tier requires evidence and is awarded to a small share of applicants. See the scholarships index for the published criteria per university.
What is included in the published tuition fee?
Published international tuition at TRNC universities covers academic instruction for the year. It typically does NOT include accommodation, meals, books, lab fees, health insurance or residence-permit costs. Near East University's published rate includes VAT and administrative charges; other universities quote tuition only. Budget approximately €4,000–€7,000 per year in living costs on top of tuition for Famagusta, Nicosia and Kyrenia. Use the calculator for a combined estimate.
Can I pay tuition in installments?
Yes. Every YÖDAK-recognised university in North Cyprus offers two-installment payment (semester-based) by default; most also offer monthly installment plans on request, sometimes with a small surcharge. Confirm the installment terms in writing on the university's official offer letter — agent-mediated arrangements are not always honoured by the university directly.
Are the fees listed here in US dollars or another currency?
Currency varies by university and reflects how each institution publishes its own fees. Near East University, Eastern Mediterranean University and Final International University publish in US dollars (USD). Cyprus International University publishes in euros (EUR). Girne American University and METU NCC publish in pounds (GBP) and US dollars respectively. The table on this page shows each university's native currency; the calculator handles conversion if you need a single-currency comparison.
