Scholarship watch: GAU merit awards and DAU support open now
Three scholarship developments this month, from a GPA-based merit award to a one-year tuition grant, with dates that matter now.

Three scholarship items landed this month for students in or heading to North Cyprus. One has a hard deadline this week, one closes today, and one is a wider funding pattern worth knowing about even if you cannot apply directly.
GAU: academic scholarship for Fall 2026
Girne American University (GAU) is accepting academic scholarship applications for Fall 2026 from students who have completed their first academic year with at least 10 credited courses and a CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00 or higher. Applications run from 10 to 25 September 2026, submitted online through GAU's help desk system. The university's Admission and Registrar director, Zerin Gürler, noted that applicants must get confirmation the Admission Office has received their application, and that scholarship applications must be renewed every semester. If you are a GAU student sitting on a high CGPA, this is a short window; check the exact figures against your own transcript before the 25th.
Şampiyon Melekleri Yaşatma Derneği: one-year EMU tuition grant
A Cyprus-based association, Şampiyon Melekleri Yaşatma Derneği, is offering one student a one-year scholarship covering a single year of tuition at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU/DAÜ). Applications close 16 September 2026, via WhatsApp or email as listed in the association's announcement. Given the tight window, this is really only actionable if you already had an application in progress.
KTEV and ŞMYD: 105 students funded for 2026-2027
Separately, the same association signed its third annual protocol with the Cyprus Turkish Education Foundation (KTEV), extending scholarship support to 105 students for the 2026-2027 academic year. According to KTEV board chair Umure Örs, the two organisations have now funded 315 students combined over three years. This scheme selects recipients through KTEV rather than open public application, so it is not something you apply for directly, but it signals that private and foundation-backed scholarship funding in the TRNC is expanding year on year.
For students weighing scholarship offers against total cost, it is worth running the numbers through the cost calculator and cross-checking any award against verified tuition tables before you commit. The scholarship directory also tracks recurring awards by university so you are not relying on a single announcement.
