For a Jordanian applicant the first fact is not the visa. As of 7 October 2026, no North Cyprus university is on the recognised-universities list kept by Jordan's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (rce.mohe.gov.jo/RecognizedUniversities), and Ministry equivalency requires that listing. A Jordanian who will need equivalency, for a public-sector post, for JMC, JEA or JPA registration or for further study in Jordan, should not be steered to North Cyprus, and UniNorth says so before a file is opened. The rest of this page is for the applicant who has read it and still has a reason to come: typically someone who will work outside Jordan, under another country's rule.
Visa and entry
Jordanian passport holders arrange no visa before flying. The TRNC student visa is issued at Ercan on arrival on the strength of the acceptance or pre-registration letter (TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visa regulations). It is not issued by a Turkish consulate; Turkish consulates do not issue TRNC visas. For the connection through Istanbul, Jordan is not among the 57 nationalities that need Türkiye's double-transit visa and a TRNC exemption letter (TRNC MFA list of 25 August 2023), and Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs exempts Jordanian ordinary passports from a visa for transit and tourism for up to 90 days in any 180 (visa information for foreigners, read 8 October 2026). Amman–Istanbul is about 2.5 hours; Istanbul–Ercan about 1.5. After arrival the student has 60 days to file the residence permit online; the steps are in the student visa walkthrough.
Money + banking
The dinar's USD peg makes a dollar- or euro-priced tuition bill predictable; check which currency your university invoices in before the transfer. Jordanian commercial banks handle education-purpose outward remittances through standard channels, usually against the acceptance letter and the university's invoice. There are no foreign-exchange quota constraints comparable to Nigeria's or Pakistan's; your bank's fees and timing are the practical variables. Pay the university's own account, never an agent.
Pre-arrival concerns
Recognition back home is the question to settle before anything else. Beyond the list itself: equivalency is applied for online after graduation at rceapp.mohe.gov.jo (50 JD for a bachelor's); it requires 8 months of residence in the country of study per academic year for a bachelor's degree and 6 for a master's (Equivalency Instructions 2023, Art. 10, amended July 2026); and Jordan has no prior-approval or no-objection step, so nothing a student does before enrolling can secure it. The decision sits with the Ministry's Directorate of Recognition and Equivalency, not with HEAC and not with YÖDAK. Details and sources are on the recognition page.

Combined cost of tuition plus living. Rent, groceries and transport in Famagusta or Kyrenia run lower than in Amman in most categories; tuition is the larger line. Community. Jordanian student associations are active at EMU and NEU, and Arabic is widely understood in commercial settings on an island whose working language is Turkish.
