For a Kazakhstani applicant the first fact is not the visa. As of 12 October 2026, ENIC-Kazakhstan says education documents issued in North Cyprus are not subject to recognition in Kazakhstan, because Kazakhstan does not recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a state (ENIC-Kazakhstan FAQ, in Russian). A Kazakhstani who will need the degree recognised at home, for employment or further study in Kazakhstan or for a medical or pharmacy licence, should not be steered to North Cyprus, and UniNorth says so before a file is opened. The rest of this page is for the applicant who has read it and still has a reason to come: typically someone who will work or study further outside Kazakhstan, under another country's rule.
Visa and entry
Kazakhstani passport holders do not need a visa arranged before travel: the immigration officer issues a 60-day student entry visa at the border on the strength of an acceptance or pre-registration letter from a TRNC university. The residence permit is applied for after arrival.
Money + banking
Kazakhstani commercial banks handle outward education remittances through standard channels. The tenge (KZT) floats against major currencies, so verify the university's invoice currency before transferring — TRNC universities publish in USD (NEU, EMU, METU NCC) or EUR (CIU), and a mismatched conversion is the most common avoidable cost. Confirm the current outward-transfer documentation with your bank; education-purpose transfers are routine but the paperwork varies by bank.
Pre-arrival concerns
Recognition back home is the question to settle before anything else. Kazakhstan's recognition Rules refuse documents from countries it does not recognise as a subject of international law (Order No. 268 of 2023, Annex 3, item 9, ground 5), and programme accreditation does not answer that ground. METU's Northern Cyprus campus is the one case ENIC has not addressed: its diplomas are issued by METU in Ankara, so a student set on it should get ENIC's written answer before enrolling. Working or studying elsewhere. If your plan is Türkiye, Europe or another country rather than Kazakhstan, the destination country's rule applies; check its page under degree recognition and the accreditation each programme holds on its university profile.
