    The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health, together with the Palestinian Medical Council, licenses physicians in the West Bank. Foreign-trained graduates apply for registration after degree equivalence from the Ministry of Higher Education.

Palestinian graduates of TRNC universities — whether resident in the West Bank, Gaza, or the wider diaspora — work through a two-step recognition pattern. Degree equivalence is handled by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) under the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education. Medical practice is then licensed through the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health in coordination with the Palestinian Medical Council; engineering through the Palestinian Engineers Association (PEA); pharmacy under MOH oversight via the Palestinian Pharmaceutical Association. Diaspora applicants resident in Jordan, Lebanon, or the Gulf typically route their recognition through host-country regulators (HEAC, OEA, etc.) rather than via Palestinian channels — that path can be considerably more practical.

Near East University (NEU) holds WFME recognition for its Faculty of Medicine — the most widely portable medical accreditation and a standard reference point for Palestinian medical-licensing reviewers. Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) holds ECFMG and TEPDAD accreditation. Girne American University (GAU) holds a WDOMS directory listing, informational rather than accreditational.

Engineering

Near East University (NEU) holds ENAEE and EUR-ACE labels for its Faculty of Engineering. Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (METU NCC) both hold ABET accreditation across multiple disciplines. European University of Lefke (EUL) holds a EUR-ACE label.

Pharmacy

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) holds ACPE accreditation for its B.Pharm and Pharm.D. programmes. Cyprus International University (CIU) holds AHPGS accreditation covering pharmacy.

What to verify yourself

  1. Contact AQAC directly to confirm the equivalence procedure for your specific TRNC programme.
  2. For medicine, confirm Palestinian Medical Council licensing requirements at https://www.moh.gov.ps/.
  3. If you are part of the diaspora in Jordan, Lebanon, or Gulf states, the host-country regulator sets the rules — check that country's recognition page on this site.
  4. Budget for document authentication via Palestinian Authority channels plus apostille of TRNC documents at Turkish authorities; certified Arabic translation is typically required.
