Pharmacy in North Cyprus: 7 schools, 3 accreditation paths, very different prices
Pharmacy is one of the most fee-spread programs in the TRNC catalogue: the cheapest after-scholarship rate sits under USD 5,000/year, the highest passes USD 12,500/year. But the bigger decision is downstream: ACPE for US recognition, PCN for Nigerian registration, AHPGS for European bundle recognition — each path requires a different choice of school.
| University | Headline fee/year | After scholarship |
|---|---|---|
| EMU Eastern Mediterranean University | $7,629 | $7,629 |
| EUL European University of Lefke | €7,750 | €3,875 |
| NEU Near East University | €8,600 | €4,800 |
| CIU Cyprus International University | €9,190 | €4,595 |
| BAU Bahçeşehir Cyprus University | $9,600 | $4,800 |
| GAU Girne American University | €11,000 | €11,000 |
| FIU Final International University | $12,560 | $6,280 |
Sorted by the lower of the two fee figures. FIU lists two pharmacy tracks (5-year M.Pharm + 6-year Pharm.D.) at the same rate; the lowest active offering per university is shown.
What each accreditation stack unlocks
EMU
- ACPE accreditation on M.Pharm + Pharm.D. — US pharmacy registration pathway
- PCN (Pharmacists Council of Nigeria) direct listing — clean Nigerian registration
- Public-university status, only public uni in TRNC
NEU
- ACPE accreditation on the Faculty of Pharmacy — same US-recognized standard EMU holds
- No current PCN listing — Nigerian registration goes through the qualification-exam route
- Largest international pharmacy cohort in TRNC
CIU
- PCN-accredited M.Pharm + Pharm.D. — Nigerian registration pathway
- AHPGS-accredited Pharmacy within the broader health bundle — European recognition
- Standard 50% international scholarship pulls effective tuition under €5,000/year
EUL
- AHPGS-accredited Pharmacy within the health bundle
- QS-ranked institution (851–900 band, 2026)
GAU
- Baseline YÖK + YÖDAK; no pharmacy-specific international accreditation listing on file
- Per-faculty fee structure — confirm individual program rate on the university page
BAU
- Baseline YÖK + YÖDAK + UK ENIC + ANABIN (Germany) institutional recognition
- Pharmacy at $9,600/year, the highest fee in BAU's catalogue
FIU
- Two program tracks: 5-year M.Pharm + 6-year Pharm.D., both $12,560/year
- Partner-university dual-degree pathway (Glasgow Caledonian, Ulster, Hull) is the distinctive credentialing route
How to choose
If your end goal is US pharmacy practice, the ACPE accreditation at NEU or EMU is the credential that opens the door. If you intend to register with PCN in Nigeria, EMU and CIU hold direct PCN listings — graduates from non-PCN programs (including NEU’s ACPE-only pharmacy) take the qualification-exam route. If you plan to pursue European recognition via the AHPGS bundle, CIU and EUL are the relevant choices. The fee gap between the strongest accreditation options and the cheapest non-accredited program is small relative to total degree cost; accreditation should drive the decision.
